The Market Price Information System has a voice-based system that is powered in English and five local languages namely Wollof, Mandinka, Fula, Sarahule and Jola, its also has a WhatApps Chatbot that delivers price information in text only. It has two modules: the data collection module and the data dissemination module. The data collection module is enhanced with an Android Mobile App and a web interface for inputting market prices, which can be used by a literate person. The dissemination module is enhanced with a ‘cloud PBX’ that handles the incoming calls from subscribers and play the market price for the caller/facilitator based on the crops, Markets and language the caller has specified during registration. The system is currently covering 21 Markets/Lumos across the country.
